And in this article we are going to see in detail the most outstanding trends.
The Mobile World Congress in numbers
The congress has been established for years as the epicenter of innovation, where leaders from the technological sector meet to discuss, design and define the digital future.
Proof of this is that the 19th edition of the MWC has broken a record number of attendees, accumulating a total of 109,000 from 205 countries and territories (7.9% more than in 2024).
In addition, there were more than 2,900 exhibitors, sponsors and partners.
This year they also performed more than 1,200 speakers, speakers and opinion leaders in the different keynotes, round tables and interviews conducted during the event, with a significant participation of 41% of women.
Despite the fact that the event was in person, the presentations and live sessions on the MWC Barcelona website, the MWC app, Mobile World Live and the platforms and media of media partners registered nearly half a million unique views.
And not only that: the 4YFN received more than 1,000 startup exhibitors, almost 380 speakers and more than 900 investors with collective funds totaling 60 billion euros.
These data show that, beyond being a technological showcase, MWC 2025 has become a catalyst for significant changes in key areas such as the economy, employment and digital transformation.
AI, the protagonist at MWC25
Despite the fact that artificial intelligence has been with us for a few years, it seems that it is now that manufacturers consider the degree of maturity of this technology sufficient to integrate it into their services.
In fact, the new edition of MWC has featured artificial intelligence. There have been many companies that have shown, promised or declared their intentions to make your mobile phones, products and devices a comprehensive experience by incorporating AI.
The result has been many robots, automatic devices, AI functions applied to mobile phones in functionalities such as photo editing or calls... And, the message that has been repeated the most, is that of 'AI for all', is what brands have wanted to convey.
In the words of Sachin Dev Duggal, founder and CEO of Builder.ai,”AI is the ability to put a layer on each human to turn them into a superman. And I think that's the real power... but, at the moment, it's a very small layer on a very large human.”
The main technological trends of the Mobile World Congress 2025
The Mobile World Congress 2025 was a showcase of outstanding innovations that are setting new trends in the technology industry. Then, after our visit to the last edition of MWC25, we review the most outstanding and innovative advances.
Genetic AI
2024 was the year of Generative Artificial Intelligence, but this year's protagonist has been the Agentic Artificial Intelligence: the ability of an AI to make decisions on its own, autonomously, analyzing the context and previous experience.
Autonomous agents represent a new generation of technology capable of managing complex tasks without direct human intervention, promising a true revolution in the way we interact with devices.
Robotics
Robotics, as we have been able to see, is going to make a qualitative leap with humanoid robots capable of performing complex tasks and adapting to dynamic environments, with applications in sectors such as logistics, health and entertainment.
In fact, in relation to humanoid robots and AI, the Unitree G1, developed by the Chinese company Unitree Robotics, aroused passions among the attendees. This is the robot that shook hands with the King, an android 1.27 meters tall and 35 kilos that can be purchased on the market for approximately 22,000 euros.
5G Advanced/6G
In the area of connectivity, the deployment of 5G advanced technology has stood out. This evolution seeks Make existing infrastructure profitable by incorporating AI, reducing energy consumption and optimizing network performance.
Extended Reality (XR)
Another great topic has been Extended Reality, with new virtual and augmented reality headsets and glasses that promise to transform our interaction with the digital world through immersive experiences that are increasingly real and interactive.
Devices and wearables
Wearables continue their evolution with the integration of advanced sensors to monitor health, improve productivity and provide immersive experiences. In terms of devices, important news is expected from most technology giants. An example of this is, among other new features, the incorporation of state-of-the-art hardware to support native AI functionalities in everyday applications.
As can be seen, AI continues to be the protagonist at the Mobile World Congress 2025. The difference is that, this time, it goes from the discussion on the panels and we give them on the stands to a real integrated experience placed in the hands of users finals and with an increasing capacity to operate autonomously and solve complex problems.
The convergence of Artificial Intelligence, advanced connectivity and devices to enable immersive experiences will allow us to create more intelligent, efficient and user-centered ecosystems, where the boundaries between the physical and the digital are increasingly blurred.
The most surprising devices at this Mobile World Congress
Despite the fact that a multitude of innovations have been presented, there have been a series of devices that, despite being mostly prototypes, have marked the future of different sectors, showing an advance of those that await us in the coming years: from foldable consoles to laptops that are charged with sunlight.
· Samsung has surprised with its foldable screens. The Korean manufacturer's display division, Samsung Display, has been one of the main protagonists of this edition. A portable console prototype, in the purest Nintendo Switch style, stands out, capable of detaching or folding in half to be able to store the equipment when you finish playing.
· Xiaomi has been another of the major protagonists of MWC25. The firm has presented, on the one hand, the Xiaomi 15 Ultra, a phone for photography lovers. And, on the other hand, Xiaomi Modular Optical System, which will mark the future of mobile photography. This is a modular system that allows Use professional goals on the phone movable. To do this, these objectives have a magnet system that attaches to the back of the equipment.
· Lenovo, the Asian manufacturer, has also presented interesting concepts. One of them has been the Lenovo ThinkBook Flip AI PC, a laptop that, despite looking like a traditional model, hides a foldable screen that doubles the size of the screen itself. The other novelty is the Lenovo Yoga Solar PC, a laptop that has a solar panel integrated into the lid to convert sunlight into energy, offering a battery life of one hour with 20 minutes of charging.
· Another of the most outstanding demonstrations has been the remote vehicle driving, the project developed by the company Elmo Remote and Nokia in collaboration with the GSMA (project organizer).
